More about this painting.

Inspired by the poem “The Second Coming” by WIlliam Butler Yeats, particularly the famous line “the centre cannot hold.” The painting is conceived as a rebuttal to that line for people of faith, a declaration that with God, the center, can indeed hold, even as things seem to be falling apart.

It is an abstract painting characterized by a dynamic composition of energetic brushstrokes radiating from the center. The color palette features shades of red, magenta, orange, and grey on a white background. The red and magenta strokes dominate the piece with both sharp and sweeping gestures, creating a sense of movement and intensity. The orange accents add brightness and contrast, while the grey strokes provide depth and balance. The layering and overlapping of these colors result in a textured and vibrant visual impact. The red cross in the center is purposefully stronger than the rest of the painting, representing the role of faith in disruptive times.
